American publisher of the LITTLE-BLUE BOOK, BIG-BLUE BOOK, and PEOPLE POCKET Series. His philosophy of book publishing was to build up a reputation, offer a product of wide appeal, and then reach a sound economic ratio between cost of production and cost of selling. As the series became internationally famous and sales grew, the unit price was reduced from $.25 in 1919 when the series began to $.05 in 1922.
